The Sweet Flower

The Sweet Flower

A Poem by C.M. Waters
"

This poem was written as a metaphor representing how I accepted a lot of what I was given when I was a child, and how the good I once knew wasn't quite so good when I grew up.

"
I have one flower,
Smelling oh so sweet...
I could live with that scent,
As I have
Every day of my life.
The same scent
Flowing to my face.
Oh, what a sweet, sweet flower....

I enter a garden
And smell many flowers,
Each with their unique scent.
Some smell revolting,
Others ever so luscious.
Beautiful variety.

I come home,
And smell my sweet flower,
Only something's different.
This sweet flower of mine
No longer smells that sweet.
I've been living with this scent
Longer than I can remember.
It smells nice,
But I've smelled better.

good theme, its starts out real sappy almost too sweet yet ends with a very indifferent tone which i think is awesome b/c it reflects the poem, intentionally or not. though id use other words rather than just sweet, unless you did so purposefully. all in all good job
