![]() Freedom at a CostA Poem by Captain Rilen
My mind's burning,
like a candle stick. Flames creeping closer, to the end of the wick. It's all these emotions, they're overwhelming. With insidious notions, the things they tell me... A creeping nasty preparation, pinching my deaf ears. A dull monotonous truth, the foundation for my fears. This is your life, and you're living it here. You're wasting away, but hush now my dear. Wouldn't want them to see, Why would they? Wouldn't want them to know, How could they? I'm being washed away, my bones melted, my structure decays. It speaks to me, It's clear in its invitation. It tells no lies, honest in its damnation. Let me envelope you, then spit you out. You'll arise a petty fiend, Pessimistic and full of doubt. Go on boy! You know the drill. I've trapped you already, Isn't this a thrill? Get off me! You're burning! You're so weak... It makes my stomach churn. Tearing apart my innards, Scrambling its way inside. Taking control of my limbs, Will the pain soon subside? Oh it's so quiet, up here away from me. I was thrown out, By the indifferent that is he. He's stronger than I am, This I can see. He practices routine, Setting my mind free.
