Of Blood and Eternity

Of Blood and Eternity

A Poem by Caradoc
"

"Pleased to meet you. Hope you guess my name." -Sympathy for the Devil, The Rolling Stones

"

How to begin, my dear, how to begin...

A million different acts of thought, wickedness and guile
So resplendent in their blackened violet hue
Unbound by guilt or moral,
They ferried me here, on the winds of bitter enmity
To you...

Virtue,
You've held it for so long, my dear, dear sweet Marie
Trapped and fettered by your cares, a bride of mine, so blushful,
Innocent of men and evil plots so foul you misconstrue
Their meanings as purity and do not see, they are so vile...

Yet I digress, my Love
You wished to know of me, to see
To feel and taste everything I have to give
All of which I was, am, and will become
To have me speak the truth of it
That familiar nightmare
Immortality...

I shall speak to you now, yes, of blood,
Of Blood and Eternity,
Despair filled years of agony, not mine of course, but theirs
Those poor hapless fools, victims of their own iniquity
And me...

You see,
I am eternal, forever; there when Greece rose out of barbarity
I supped on the wine of Dionysus, silencing pitiful prayers
Feeding, raping, part of the carnage, the deaths of history
I was there, before even Noah's great flood...

But you know, my dove,
Time really has no meaning for one like me
My enemies, murdered or simply outlived
Just like my poor, perfect brother; the second son of Adam
Of course you don't believe, it's outlandish I admit,
Yet I could never compare
Unfortunately...

So come with me, fast, and I'll fulfill your dreams,
Tonight I am your wish master
You'll need never fear to call out my name
I'll be here, more than a madman's delusion
You carry the key, and I, I hold Pandora's Box...

Open it now and we'll follow where the Devil walks
I'll show you secrets of the dark and the beauty of illusion
Take my hand, I will set your desire aflame
Together we will claim all you could ever ask for
Merely close your eyes and ignore your heart's dying screams...

Come my Love, and share with me this eve,
All Hallows Night is come
There is no one left in which to cleave
We are together, you and I,
Refugees of the night
The two who murdered the dawn
Forever is ours at last
And God has not won...

I shall teach you now, yes, of blood,
Of Blood and Eternity...

Is it Cain…Abel is the second son of Adam…so my options were Cain or Seth…I think it’s Cain because you said…”My enemies, murdered or simply outlived” and I know Cain’s punishment for killing Abel was that he would wander the earth, some people believe this punishment would last forever. This would explain why he talks of being around for so long. Also Cain was marked, and the mark meant that he wouldn’t die before his time…so no one could kill him. Also some people believe Cain wasn’t Adam’s son…that he was the Devils child. This would explain why he referred to his brother as ‘second son of Adam’ as opposed to ‘my father’s second son’. I do acknowledge that that might have been a clue and not intentionally done. Am I right is it Cain?!
This poem is great…dark and sometimes creepy but great!!

I would fully be tempted to open the box if he said it like that, ignoring all the darkness that comes with his promises. The is something alluring about the way you put it!

*Victory dance* I love being right! You're welcome :)
first, i must say that this is simply an epic. biblical and mythological references, great description. upon seeing your description question, it plagued me to see the clues.. "my perfect brother, the second son of Adam" makes me think its Cain, if im not mistaken Abel was the second son. this was unlike anything ive read on here, and i loved it. thanks for sharing.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I'm glad I was able to show you something new and enjoyable.
Ah, so many references and inspirations and everything that I am but astounded once more by your beautiful poetry. Such meaningful poetry packed tight within such carefully chosen, seemingly calm lines of the tone one might imagine to be using when he or she is near his/her end. Well done, and I am again amazed.

I thought it was cool how the last line of the poem was said to her at the end. I was kind of worried for the girl though, the poem makes me unsure if she wants to go with him or not, because it doesn't seem like she had a choice. He pretty much says don't worry your safe, I've murdered so many people in my long like, just more elegantly. He I loved the Biblical references and their use of showing how timeless he is. You even threw a Greek god in there for good measure. It was a nice mix or mythology and religion. Awesome.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I try.
A great mix of myth with just the right hints of romanticism and devilry!

Others have said epic and I agree. Totally.

I saw this mentioned on JPH's The Magical Mystical Mystery Compendium Group page thingy! I hope it gets more reviews as it has such depth of knowledge its a mini epic! I love this sort of poetry although not good at writing it myself. This mythical metaphysical type work is why am a fan of John's and now yours as this is going in my favs! Lets hope a few more people see it
