For The Earth Is A Maiden

For The Earth Is A Maiden

A Poem by Carson Kramer

Nothing of this Earth or Sky
Is made of men.
Nothing of such beauty
Nothing of such power.
For the Earth is a Maiden.
The Sky, Her soul.
The clouds, Her softness.
The stars, Her Lovers, remembered.
The thunder, Her Primal Call.
The rain, Her tears.
The floods, Her assurance of Her Power.
The tornadoes, Her Fury.
The gentle breeze, Her kiss.
The cold winds, Her Command.
The fallen leaf, Her reminder of death.
The bloom of spring, Her giving sense of renewal.
She is ours. Yours. Mine.
For the Earth is a Maiden.
And she is beautiful.

She is most beautiful, and so is this extraordinary piece! Wow, it truly reads exquisitely when read aloud. I am green with envy, my talented friend!

Ah, Kelly. Thank you so much. I really appreciate that.
I was in St Louis about a week ago and there was a foot of snow. Arrogance alone makes us think that we are anything on this earth when the only true talebearer is the earth itself. And the only lasting beauty is that which the earth makes manifest.....great poem...dana

Thank you, Dana. And you are quite right. Both about my hometown, and our Earth.

You have come to the Nom de Plume, of the writer known as, Nipplegrinder. It was suggested that I would receive a more welcoming response, if I hadn't such a repulsive screen name. (Thank you, Lyn.) .. more..
