My Attempt

My Attempt

A Poem by C.Symister

The utterance of greeting is my dream’s foreshadow
If life is a gamble, this is my risk
Though I aim for depth, one must start with shallow
This is the single arrow, it must not miss

That morning I dawned with the sun, confident and naïve
Rolling like a stone, full of passion
But reality has made me tear and grieve
Because I’ve come second, I’ll leave in that fashion

Innocence remains innocent, but not forever
My dream is lost and pain has increased
Now he has his prize, a joining I cannot sever
For she is gone and chance deceased

I connect to this in strange ways. The first line hooked me. It reminded me of how I met my ex who is now with somebody else. I met her once at 16 and 3 years later I had a dream about her. The day of that dream we randomly met again. We started dating that day and fell in love. It eventually crumbled to the floor. . . But enough about me. Thank you very much for sharing. I'm going to read this a few more times.
