                     Velvet and silk dreams

-----------------------------------------------

                 Those eyes

A sweet girl told me once,
I love you Johnnie, I do.
I looked into her brown eyes and I told her.
We are babies and I love you so.
I love your hands in my hands,
I adore your brown eyes girl and we must allow life to show us,
if we are real and true.

Soldiers love, sometime pretend, sometime just fragment of love caress.
We become leftover wine when we get lost,
in distance war.

Broken man return home,
damn war taught boy,
men shall kill and love is so rare.

Boys become men,
girls become women.
Soldier return home and kind woman,
held him like a baby.
She sang to him.

"Johnnie, Johnnie.
I wrote you weekly and I waited for you.
I love you Johnnie, I do.
Please come back to me,
I need the laughing boy to be with me."

Soldier had velvet and silk dreams,
kept him sane in the mist of chaos.
His wish was near and he told her.

You are sweeter than the Michigan August apples,
softer than the Summer breeze and
a blessing to my eyes and heart.

Hold me tightly and I will hold you my kind love.
This time I will run to you and I won't release you.

Sometimes distance and time teaches the most valuable lessons to be learnt- by living we feel and realise what is important and what’s not but allowing hurt and pain from the past to separate us from true love is a lost cause- we need to face the fear of not knowing otherwise we could miss out in the best things ever- deep moving and wonderful words and emotions like always-🌹

it's because love has a triple wick. It burns from doubt, from passion and from longing. That's why soldiers keep a picture of his love on the battlefield. It is the rudimentary beginning of what awaits him or her If and when they return. There was this scene in the bus station in Cincinnati where young bald headed seamen and soldiers were being deployed and a young girl was holding a frightened soldiers hand. She was a creature exhailing the fruit of loves delighted pleasures. He was horrible, whispering and subdued. War zones make you wonder about what hours you have sqandered. I pray that he came back home to her, a person that i never met. Granted, love poems have taken over Writer'scafe and i agree; that even the hardened few have themselves undone the knot in the girls throat..I love your writing.....dana

Thank you Dana. War teaches no worthwhile lessons. It does make home sweeter and more worthwhile.
