The Lover, A Soldier prayer.

The Lover, A Soldier prayer.

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Soldier goes off to War. Need kind and sweet memories to keep them human.

"

                     The Lover (A soldier prayer)

Poor boys and men.
Roads lead to War.

Young woman with a  sweet smile.
Silk dress.
Smelling like sweet flowers.

Whisper,  "let's dance tonight.
You shall go to War."

"Tonight we need to create photos for the heart."

"Memories to keep you warm when you are lonely and afraid."

Young man brings the sweet Angel close.
Whisper kind words of love and thankfulness.

Soldier stand alone.
Cleans his M-16.
Death is all around him.

He closes his eyes.
He remembered.
The smell of flowers.
The feel of the silk dress.

The sweet smile of his love.

Keeps him human.

Coyote Poetry
I stood alone on guard duty on the border of Iraq. Didn't think of War. I thought of beautiful faces and family.

I think it catches what most soldiers think of when they are at war, away from their family. I think it is a great poem.

Once again this poem just about brought tears to my eyes. You write with such power you could move even the mountains.

War, how i hate thy sound
to fight for a few so many mothers weep
give me peace, allow me to dwell, in my maidens arms,
you can keep hell

Great write

It is a very good poem. It has a twist to it. Women and war. Very well done. And is there a gun named m-60? just wondering

Speechless. Nothing tops your author's note.

The only important thing to think of... .

Thank you for putting this on here. My Fiancee Clay, is in the army and is currently still in Iraq. Every time we get the chance to hear from one another we have always told eachother of things that we could hold in our hearts. Things that would keep us warm at night while we were alone and without one another. Now when I hear from him again I can tell him of the great poem I read here (if you do not mind that is) and of how much it reminded me of what we try to do for one another. Please if you can, keep my fiancee in your prayers for a safe trip home and thank you again for this wonderful poem.
