Bittersweet goodbye

Bittersweet goodbye

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Goodbyes are necessary. Need closure to all things.

"
    Bittersweet closure

"I walk up to her house.
I celebrated one year with this young woman.
In the comfort of her small apartment.
We learned passion and hate."

An angelic face answered the door.
She asked me. Why did I come?
She fell into my arms.

I was leaving the Army.
Three years in the beauty and elegance
of Germany was coming to the end.

I came for closure.
My beautiful Daniela took me to
heaven and hell.

We entwined two lives for a year.
Her beauty enchanted my heart.
We reached the pinnacle of passion.
A million sweet kisses and thousand
words of love.

Now she is crying.
Her new love is dead.
I whisper I didn't want anyone to die.

I go to the Army P.X.
I bring her favorite rum to her.
I Play her Leonard Cohen music.
I allow her to hold on to me.

Silence is necessary.
Sometimes words don't mean much.
They only swim in sadness.
Allow pain to do the fatal mercy
of killing off the last of your hope and joy.

A young woman broke my heart.
The elixir of sweet love has turned bittersweet.

Now forgiveness and kindness are all
we have left.

Sweet and beautiful Daniela
Asked did I come to save her?

I whispered I came to say goodbye the right way.
To tell her thank you.

Her blue eyes looked into mine.
Asking for what?
I condemn you to grief and damnation.

I kissed her forehead.
I told her.

The only offense would be if we don't try to love.
Breathtaking kisses;
the warmth of two bodies becoming one for a time;
nights of love and passion

Will always bring a smile.
When the body and mind are old.
Those stories won't ever leave the heart and dreams.

I sit and baby sit Daniela for three days.

I leave her with no words of love.

Just a bittersweet goodbye."

Bittersweet goodbyes tent to leave invisible wounds in the heart
Yet it is better to have love and lost than not to have
Tasted the sweetness of the embrace of love
feel your heart beat as loud as the drums
Love is a gift that keeps on giving if we are lucky enough to receive that gift
We must guarded with our heart
Your words captured such a beautiful flow
Powerful Message within !!!

Love, even for a moment in time is valuable for every drop of it enriches our heart... a very emotionally detailed piece of writing.

A piece which is very rich emotionally..."Bittersweet" is an aptly chosen word...And the poem follows directly from the title, contrasting the wonderful times of love and passion with the impending sadness of separation. Goodbyes are indeed necessary, as you say. But saying goodbye to a loved one is one of the hardest things to do. Certain lines made a lasting impression on my mind...

"Three years in the beauty and elegance
of Germany was coming to the end"
Very poetic...fusing the beauty of a place and a person...Daniela personifies Germany...

"My beautiful Daniela took me to
heaven and hell"
Again, a wonderful expression...many can sympathize with the notion here...the joys and sorrows of love are universal...

"Silence is necessary"
Simple, and even terse...but the fact is established firmly...in a way which almost says "That's the way it is, you have no choice"...

"The only offense would be if we don't try to love"
Indeed! The human life is all about love..even if it is ephemeral...well said...

"The elixir of sweet love has turned bittersweet"
An ethereal metaphor, but I would have removed the word "sweet"...I think the phrase "elixir of love" speaks for itself.

A very good write!

Love can often leave you lonely but in the end its the compassion one has felt for another that will never leave your soul

the alluring state of sweet and bitter comingled in such a finely drawn poetic are absolutely captivating~ Leonard Cohen throaty adorations fit dynamically into the poetic and draws a visual framework smooth and refined~ sometimes love lasts but for a blink of an eye~ but to negate it or refuse t because of brevity is to lose a moment which offered itself pure and divine~ nothing lasts forever~ there is only today's pulse to capture~

WOW O WOW! O.o Such a splendid write. No rhymes, No meters, no imagery and still, an awesome poem. To tell the truth, this is the first poem which I think is perfect even without all the above mentioned! "I don't want anyone to die" - Great words.. :) This is going into my favorites too.. Waiting for more from you!!
