The Breath of an Angel

The Breath of an Angel

A Poem by Carolann Dowsett
"

I wrote this one a while back after my mum died, I thought I would share it here.

"
You left
without saying goodbye
Life Stolen
in the blink of an eye

So many words
left unspoken
shattered dreams
my spirit broken

Did leaving this world
set your soul free
Will you always be here
watching over me
A presence felt
a glimmer
a sigh
protecting me
until I die

Or did you move on
through time and space
On the breath of an angel
to God’s loving embrace

Wow! This poem is so touching and well written. It reveals the sorrow, the longing and ever other possible emotion that a human feels on the death of a loved one. This poem reminds me so very much about the death of my grandmother, who too, died without saying goodbye; she died in coma. It is great that you could make the reader recollect his/her past experiences and yet show them around the new and fascinating realm of your creation. Very well done! Keep writing!

That was really good. Great, teared up again. It just makes me wonder how I'll feel if/when my mom is to pass away.

Death is never easy. Especially when it is unexpected. The poem a very sad story. I lost people when I was in war. Came home and got my heart broken when I realized they were gone. I know my dear family members were in a better place. Thank you for sharing the poem. A beautiful poem to remember your mother.

Thank you.
I didn't read the little note under the title until after I read this... I thought of my mother. She died when I was 14. I am sorry for the void the loss creates... My mother has been gone for 30 years and I find I want and need her more now than I ever thought in the past. A lovely tribute!
