How Did You Feel

How Did You Feel

A Poem by Carolann Dowsett

How did you feel
when you knocked me down
did your heart feel  proud

Did you laugh out loud
as I fell to the ground
Hitting the floor
without a sound

As you trampled my body
in the pale moonlight
Danced with the devil
in the shadows of the night

As I laid in the stench
of your wicked deceit
Cold and broken
lost in defeat

Were you proud of yourself
when your fists hit my flesh
When you strangled me
until I was close to death

Did you feel like a man
when you stole my breath
When my face turned blue
and my strength had left

How does it feel
knowing I'd be dead
From the drug induced madness
flowing through your head

If it wasn't for the one
who rescued me
Who broke down the door
and set me free

How would it feel
to have my blood on your hands
Would you feel real proud
like a big tough man

Instead of the pathetic creature
that you really are
Just a  low life coward
who likes to leave scars

So much pain. Your words just weep the would.be page. In spite of the terrible scenes you've set, the courage with which you write is very special, it shows spirit alongside the cruelty you've experienced, The actual wording is precise, not overly emotional, that makes this post very vivid.

Your poem is perfect for the song "Tell Me" by He is We. There are so many resemblances these offer to reality. Not only are people abusing others for their own enjoyment but also stomping over their dignity. What a sad world it will be if all the streets would always be painted blood! You have written such truthful perceptions of unlawful acts and I appreciate you sharing your view on this. Thank you!

Thank you so much Margarette.
Carolann, I am filled with so much sadness right now. Something like this is completely unimaginab;e to me though I know it is the truth. But please realize, for all of the bad there is good, every cloudy day will eventually make way for sunshine. I know forgetting is not an option, but placing these bad memories somewhere dark and allowing the light to shine in I would hope will help some. Very sad, but well written.

Thank you so much.
Honest and direct words in this poem. Never a excuse to harm a woman. The description took the reader to bad places and thoughts. A powerful poem that open the door to a wide open discussion. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

Thank you so much.
Chilling Carolann, this resonates within me, I have haunting's of this happening to my mother when I was younger. 'Pathetic creature' is putting it mildly, these bullies all need to go to hell. It leaves plenty of scars, not only physically, the mental images and reminders it leaves behind are irreparable. Thank you for sharing this one.

Yes there should be erasers for a lot of things that we endure.
