White Flag

White Flag

A Poem by Caustic_Dystopia

Boom goes the grenade, debris crashes to the ground
There's goes my safe zone, took so long to be found.

I'm running through the ruins trying to get away
Barely dodging bullets, when I'm hit by a stray.

I hit the ground the shots still fly
And I've nowhere left to hide.

Somethin's gotta give sooner, or later, so until then I've got my white flag up
Nothing lasts forever so once again I'll fill my coffee cup.

Pushed down again so I'll just lay here
'til all my problems disappear.

I'm not gonna fight as the tide pulls me down
I'm gonna surrender this time around.

I'm barely sleeping and out of friends
All good things must come to an end

My sparks not out, but it's fairly dim
It was a raging fire before I met him

He poured his gasoline over my flame
A crude distraction for his evil game.

I lost myself for a little while
Allowing his lies to cause my smile

Somethin's gotta give sooner, or later, so until then I've got my white flag up
Nothing lasts forever so once again I'll fill my coffee cup.

Pushed down again so I'll just lay here
'til all my problems disappear.

I'm not gonna fight as the tide pulls me down
I'm gonna surrender this time around.
