Climbing Mountains to Catch the Moon

Climbing Mountains to Catch the Moon

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

I wonder if they have folded their hearts' around an ache no one is able to see.

"

Some try to convince themselves,
this is the rarest of sensations
as they walk along the edges of a place
where their name is whispered by a spring
that flows love to all.
Still, we wonder
if it takes a truly perfect heart
beating softly
inside of a self-built cocoon
to be inspired,
hear the call.

Does nightfall build the pressure felt
of those who fall
until they lower their expectations
find they are climbing mountains
hoping to catch
the silvery moon?
Is it not obvious that these hearts
will travel fearlessly
always bowing their heads
and closing their eyes,
in hope true love
will blossom soon.

I wonder if they have folded their hearts'
around an ache
no one is able to see.
Or if this is only the beginning
of recognizing myself
in their mirror.
This rare sensation I feel
walking along the same edge
is merely erasing each step
fearlessly taken.
The silvery moon
has not....
grown any nearer.

Yet, it has not grown any farther either. Each step we take leads us to our destiny, whether it be to grasp the moon or fall deeply into the throws of true love, we walk. Often the ledge is narrow and at times a bit scary, but listen to your heart, hear that spring whispering your name and you will find that reaching the moon becomes a much easier task. Very though provoking and beautiful.

Hardly ever recognize in other individuals what virtues I may possess; almost always, it is my faults I see reflected.
Either I am person of very low character, or I associate with too many such people.
In any event, Neva, this piece is wise, beautifully composed art.

Most poetry I read I don't like, but yours has all the honesty that poetry needs and none of the frills that it doesn't. Women are probably better poets than men, because they're more introspective and don't try to impress as much.

I am at a critical point in my career, and I am so full of fear for the uncertainties of a risky climb. Its holding me back from continuing the pursuit. I can choose the safety of the dull valley that I am already in, over a 'foolish' pursuit for the silvery moon which hasn't ever "grown any nearer". That's how I relate to the poem in my personal context. Absolutely wonderful creation.

The silvery moon
has not....
grown any nearer.

Stepping through cool creek water
the best recipe for morning coffee,
perfect for knocking down the frothy foams eruption
Cool creek water, never the same, flowing
like you, flowing ,moving energy,
hand holds,busted behind you
well placed mule kicks
chalk on the rock now
luminescent crumbs in the moons glow
Grettle's trail, the serpent gains the blame
accepts it
The next will be super heroes of comic proportions.
