Black Silk and Promises That Lie

Black Silk and Promises That Lie

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

Replacing You and I................

"

A promise in a black silk dress does cartwheels in your mysterious world

While you stare blinded by the light that plays within your desire
You can choose what will come to be your comfort
Or what will hold your soul’s own essence
In its needful fire

When you are surrounded by the tokens of what you want to hold
Can you just go on forever and never look at anything else
Then find yourself fumbling for precious memories
Of nights before a promise in a black dress
Rearranged love’s wealth

Did you know a fire-breathing dragon lies resting within your soul
Preparing slowly for a number of years to fill your skies
With the glistening black silk of promises that lie
Sweet words spinning fiery cartwheels
Replacing you and I

Wow. I love the feeling I get from the imagery here. All the black silk and cartwheels. Kind of mysterious.
I can't quite put into words what this poem makes me think of, or my interpretation. I think I'll just sit here and ponder it a little more..:)

Neva - Again, you amaze me with the words you continue to write. Each piece of prose has its own meter of theme.

Rearranged love’s wealth - Amazing!

"Replacing you and I"

There are those of us that must learn the hard way. "If I only new THEN what I know NOW." You leave the reader standing in the middle of warning. To watch as the subject slowly loses everything they thought was worth while. This piece reminds me of a Tori Amos song one verse imparticularly, "And is you place in Heaven worth giving up these kisses?" And to the subject apparently it is. This is a good right that bares warning with calm knowing that things will fall in their favor later down the way. I must say the subject of this piece fell from "Heaven" the minute they let you slip between their fingers. J'adore

Interesting but an enjoyable read. Your poetry routinely has a cryptic feel and import.

I too tend to write in a veiled manner either intentionally or unintentionally.

Powerful and beautiful words. You create some good visions with your strong poetry. No weakness in this poem. Just amazing poetry. Thank you.
