Where Are You?

Where Are You?

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

Sometimes words sit screaming inside a chasm asking, “where are you”, like a nightmare intimately breezes from a cage fashioned for anyone it recognizes first.

"

Sometimes words sit screaming inside a chasm
asking, “where are you”,
like a nightmare intimately breezes
from a cage fashioned for anyone
it recognizes first.

On the coldest of nights you can see their pain
in lines that make you close your eyes
for reasons
that you may not want to know.

Running takes you nowhere
when words scream out “I want you”
then entwine themselves
around the flesh
of your pen.

of course this poem should be a spellbound... God, you wrote it. No wonder it is...
Not too much of words but doubtlessly they are permanent and weighty. "then entwine themselves around the flesh of your pen."
Yeah, sometimes we just cannot be oblivious to those questions that we deeply yearn to find their answers... I love the very artistic and fine expressions you used here... A pleasing read.

A lot of emotion and pain in the words of this poem. I like the story and how you ended the poem. Quite a story in so few words. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

What are the words you are uncomfortable with? Anyways, this is a lovely write, and I enjoyed the last stanza the most. "then entwine themselves/ around the flesh/ of your pen." :)

I read this in part very personally. My sales of a book are stuck. I often think about my next sale and often wonder who it will be to, not that I am likely to know that. But they are not biting. And so I wonder intensely 'Where are you?' And then my nightmare starts for real when i think they may not be there at all.
That said I then read the poem objectively and love the last two lines.
