Cheater! Cheater!

Cheater! Cheater!

A Story by Cherrie Palmer
"

childhood fun

"

"Take us swimming," said the girl with eyes beaming bright.

"Lets play another game"

"Oh! Grandpa." The three kids whined.

A roll of the dice makes five. The girl moves four. "Grandpa please, take us swimming you said we could".

The cup is passed and the roll of the dice makes six. The boy moves six spaces instead of breaking out another marble. "Son, what were you think'n! What a silly move," says the Grandpa.

Again the cup is passed all the while three kids miss count and fails to add the right moves.

"Grandpa, now can we please go."

"As soon as I win one game."

A round robin of moans circled the table, as the Grandpa sports a Wiley grin.

A jump is missed a man sent back all in hopes they loose.

The final roll is coming up if he hits five he wins! The dice slow rolls the first is a one the second is hinged on a four. The table is jarred and four  lands on two. " Again!" He spouts as all four play to loose.

Hmm... I'll take the swimming. Let them splash and have fun while I sit in the shade with my lemonade/iced tea. Moments to be with them and at the same time let story lines swirl through the mists of imagination. :)
Your stories are almost like verse. There's a poetic-ness to it. Emotion has a freer play here.

When you frame it and write it well like you have, it doesn't take much to conjure back childhood memories of times and loved ones past. Your perception is keen and loving. I'll have a roll, what's the ante up to????

An excellent scene. I could see their faces in anticipation so clearly.
"Round robin of moans, " what a great way of putting it.

I am a Grandpa and I can relate to this. What a cheeky tribe of kids they were. Just like mine in fact. This sweet snapshot waits to be fitted neatly in a major work. All hail CP!
