The dark place

The dark place

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner

Swirling, black smoke falling all around

I'm drowning in a sea of sadness

Screaming for help but nobody hears

Body won't take direction

Mind has one of it's own

I'm falling, falling

Deeper, down and down

To my land of no windows

Dark all around

The voices keep on coming

Conversation between me and me

Never a sweet word spoken

For I am never pleased with me

I see the looks you're giving

I feel your burning stare

Why do they all hate me

Do I even care

Am I any different

Do they think me any less

I know I don't do this and this

But I have a lot of stress!

The doors are never open

Around every corner lurks a fight

I'm trying oh so hard

Nothing seems to be right

I wish it all would end

so that I might get some rest

but I fear that just won't happen

and perhaps it is best

The sunshine has to come through soon

all the pain has to leave

because one more day of suffering

and my soul will surely flee

awwww hun. I've so been there! You captured it beautifully. The pain and anguish, swallowed up in lonliness and depression. The sunshine will get through.

It will!
