Conflict

Conflict

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner

There are conflicts that I battle

Pulling this way and that

Which is the right way

What price for the truth

Hearts desire or force of logic

A darlings lost love

Children that cry

Mothers left to wilt

Love that will die

Pull them to your chest

Hold them close

Each pain a reminder

Every laugh a gift

To fight the fight or to lie in pools of sadness

Those are the questions that conflict must answer

Morning battles and a wrestle with desire

I've had my fill

No today nor tomorrow

and yet life goes on

Conflict never to end

His eyes never to see

My arms to lay bare

A heart encased in loss
