Half my heart

Half my heart

A Poem by Cheryl J. Turner

When I gave up my heart

I gave you only half

For I learned long ago the tenor of your laugh

I know each line a frown may bring

And every stroke of skin

I memorised each whispered word

The way you sigh and moan

I know the light within your eyes when gazing into mine

I've felt the tremble in your touch

The need within your heart

Just the thought of you is more than a magical dream

So you see, my love

My precious one

My heart is yours alone

But to love you in entirety

I left some love at home
