Cafe Heart

Cafe Heart

A Poem by c.m.
"

A little piece of my imagination......and memories.

"
There's cracks in the sidewalk
Traced with bare toes; winter's day.
I listen to the hum of passing cars that aren't you
Sipping coffee after a movie, like you said.
But I didn't drive your car,
Didn't hide you and feed you Skittle-covered pizza;
I am alone.

That face like mine in the window still waits for you.
Watching cars pass in the reflection, just in case, or so I say.
Sipping coffee, writing you into my thoughts,
Childish thoughts.
But you love me because I make you smile,
Love in a way.

Cold toes on sidewalk cracks,
And I wonder if you're smiling.

ah that holds a world of melancholic wonder.. i love this chica. it isnt so far from your writing however.. the feeling you use, where these pauses in time hold MORE than they do.. it's here, too. powerful, as is your norm, and just as elegant.

(pumpkin lattes?? jeez corey WOULD drink that foofy s**t >.

This has all the melancholy of truth. I love the line: 'Sipping coffee, writing you into my thoughts...' Been there; done that...this very day :)

I felt like I was sitting roadside in San Fran having a pumpkin latte or glass of wine and just watching the people go by and letting my mind run all over the place. In my mind it is overcast and the latte is so warm. And my god...who wouldn't love skittle covered pizza...two of my favorite things combined into one super food...lol. Once again you have pulled life from the everyday, and once again, your emotions come through in a rainbow of skittle colors. Nice write.
