Affection

Affection

A Poem by Devan McKinley

I need a loving touch.
A warm hand.
A chest to lay my head.

Because my mind's a mess.
My mind, a wreck.
I'm stranded on my bed.

Affection is like a drug.
And I'm feeling the withdrawal.
It's such an underrated high.

When I fall like this,
Its hard not to feel alone.
Fighting the urge to cry.

Rebuilding who you are,
And keeping yourself strong,
Can be an inner struggle.

I know I'll be fine.
But success might just be,
Having the right someone to cuddle.
