Mid-July

Mid-July

A Poem by Devan McKinley

You see your mom as butterflies.
They fill my stomach and my mind,
Every time I think about you.

Your smile makes me smile more.
And that laugh you hate, I adore.
Your eyes are such a stunning shade of blue.

A freckle for every joke you make,
I cackle til my muscles ache.
The best part of my day is you on my phone.

A family man is the best kind to me,
And you can bet that I'm counting down the weeks.
I just can't wait to make you feel at home.
