One Week Away

One Week Away

A Poem by Devan McKinley

I'm excited to feel your hand in mine.
And I can't wait to get wrapped up in you.
To lay kisses on your cheek.
My mind wanders on the things we'll do.

I look forward to making you happy.
To being your best friend in time.
To hug you tighter on your bad days.
And press your smile against mine.

To rest my head on your shoulder.
And run my fingers through your hair.
Laugh at the silliest of jokes.
Just be ourselves without a care.
