My Shadow

My Shadow

A Poem by Chilson, Joshua

Previous Version
This is a previous version of My Shadow.

My shadow sat along side me,

always eager to get inside,

to know, to feel, to imagine.

Sometimes I wonder if I should,

lend my heart to the blackness,

so it feels pain, the sadness, and weight I carry.

  Though I hesitate,

would it run away and hide with the moon,

seeking refuge beyond the star blazing skies I reach to at night.

  So I pull away,

resting hopes and dreams at it's feet,

keeping each fallen star locked away for noone to find.

Reviews

Nice poem about questioning whether you should risk sharing your pain with you shadow,
fearing you might lose that part of you, even though the shadow wants to know all of you,
deciding sharing only the good things about you is the best.

Excellent write.
