She Cries for Me

For my daughter, Sarah Amanda Fletterich

SHE CRIES FOR ME

 

She cries for me,

At the break of dawn;

I nourish my baby

And put a dry diaper on;

She plays, for a bit,

Until again being wet;

She chirps and peeps;

Changed, once again,

The angel, now, sleeps

Till half past ten;

It is time for a drink

And a bath, in the sink,

Followed by our daily games

Of serious laughter

To learn a world of names

And to cuddle with mother.

This is adorable! I love mother-child poems. Its the strongest most miraculous bond in the world. I love the fact that you wrote about such simple things... changing a diaper, taking a sink bath, cuddling... but to us mothers those things are the most wonderful precious things ever.
