I Close My Eyes

I Close My Eyes

A Poem by Laylani Mullane
"

"Nightmares aren't always just dreams." Written for a horror contest on another site that asked us to write a children's type rhyme.

"

I close my eyes,

I say my prayers,

But he is always standing there.

I close my eyes,

I say my prayers,

But he is always standing there.

Where he comes from

Where he goes

Is a mystery no one knows.

In the darkness

Of my room

What once was safe is now my tomb.

I close my eyes,

I say my prayers,

But he is always standing there.

His grin is wide

His hunger deep

He waits for me to go to sleep.

I know I’m next

My time has come

My screams will be heard by none.

I close my eyes,

I say my prayers,

But he is always standing there.

Would love to get feed back on the flow and feel of this poem. It's been quite awhile since I've done any poetry so forgive any rustiness this may show. Thank you in advanced.

About
For me poetry is about emotion, and most of the time when I write I try not to edit too much, if at all, because I believe that it'll only dimish the emotion. For the last few years writing has helpe.. more..
