Hello Dear Friend

Hello Dear Friend

A Poem by Laylani Mullane
"

~Reload~ The one constant companion in my life for a time

"

Hello
I know you're there
Watching from the shadows
Silently standing sentinel.

For a decade
We've been companions
You've watched over me,
Teaching me.

You've taught me
Loss,
And the strength to over come.
Maturity,
As child becomes grown
With a few simple words.
Mercy,
As your brother's job finishes and
You lead them away.

Hello again,
You've been working hard
Haven't you?

You've been working
With your brothers
To balance the world,
Tear lives apart
And end suffering.

Soon you'll step from the shadows,
Your cold hands reaching for her
And I know I can't do anything.

It's her time
And I know until I go,
You, Brother Death,
Will watch from the shadows.

nice free verse, loved the ending. the choice to have the three straight words beginning with an 'S' was a good one, "Silently standing sentinel."

well done. will have to read more of your work. thanks for sharing

For me poetry is about emotion, and most of the time when I write I try not to edit too much, if at all, because I believe that it'll only dimish the emotion. For the last few years writing has helpe.. more..
