Not Her

Not Her

A Poem by Cibs

I let temptation get the best of me

And then I’m gone just like a memory.

No trace of me left behind,

No lingering scent which will remind

You what we shared was really real.

Don’t get confused or think too hard,

Don’t think that anything was more than just a night,

I won’t call you, I won’t fight.

Erase my number… that’s where it starts,

That’s where it begins and that’s where it ends,

There is no middle, nowhere to stand.

There is no me and you, there is no us

There is just me…. and then there’s you.

Singular, alone, unattached

Cause I don’t need anyone that’s holding me back

For this I do apologize,

But I never made any promises,

I never gave you my word and though it hurts,

I’m just not her.
