~One of these days

~One of these days

A Poem by Clyde du Coeur
"

OLD... I wrote this when I was about 16 :P

"

ONE OF THESE DAYS I’LL GET WHAT’S COMING TO ME...

AND IT WILL BREAK ME:

IT WILL

MESS UP MY OUTLOOK;

TEAR ME UP INSIDE;

RIP ME TO SHREDS...

IS THERE ANY HOPE FOR

THIS LOST SOUL

THIS LONELY SOLDIER?

IT’LL HIT ME IN THE FACE AND KNOCK ME DOWN;

I’LL THINK IT’S ALL A MISTAKE... SOMEONE ELSE’S PROBLEM...

BUT DEEP DOWN, I’LL KNOW.

THIS CREATURE WANTS TO BE LOVED

SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER IT

TO BE UNDERSTOOD.

MUST IT DO SOMETHING IN ORDER TO GAIN THIS DESIRE?

OR DOES IT NEED A STREETCAR TO TAKE IT THERE?

YOU SEE; LIFE AIN’T FAIR...

AIN’T SIMPLE EITHER...

Life        ...        ...        YOU ONLY GET ONE CHANCE TO GET IT RIGHT.

Do it right " be the best " or else you’re dead.

You could well be right there! I honestly can't remember what the inspiration was :P but looking over it, I identified 3 song-titles/lyric references, as well as the obvious "Streetcar Named Desire" too :P
I'm a bit confused myself to be honest, but lets just say that it's open to interpretation!!

Kept wondering what lays behind the assumption that things will go wrong? On the other hand maybe the poem is merely super realistic, maybe we all will run into some nemesis at some point. It's true life is not fair or simple...though it is tempting to think it is simple. I always end up in knots when I think too much about it. I had a good swim today. My being felt in balance as I anticipated the swim and was buoyand and vital during it...and I felt like my head was full of good chemicals afterwards...and then loaded up with a moccha. Is thinking too much a curse? Looking at the poem again I think the key line is 'This creature wants to be loved' as that is the key to so much of our lives.
