the birds and the beetles

the birds and the beetles

A Poem by Daniel Atkinson
"

one and the same.

"

appearances can indeed be deceiving

for the common man places himself above the

birds and beetles

he believes he is the creator and the savior

believes it so hard it sinks into his marrow

and stays there awhile

he lives the act as a starving dog would

and erects statues and spires to

further convince himself beyond any measure but

it is all folly:

he, the birds and beetles and

you and i

we are all just gods on wires,

aren't we?

Words, but awesome words. I love your poems so much, as you probably already know...but you're subject seems so profound to me. I love it. Favorite lines, "he believes he is the creator and the savior, believes it so hard it sinks into his marrow"...that is awesome, really. Fantastic poem!! :)

the birds and the beetles
A Poem by Cole Atkinson
This is a nice vent. Some words I’m not sure if they’re supposed to be capitalized or low cased, but the story reads the same either way. (I.E. {needs ending mark.} [Needs capitalized] (Can be either way). |needs more words|
[A]appearances can indeed be deceiving

[H]he believes (H)he is the creator and the savior
believes it |is| so hard it sinks into his marrow
