Our Giants

Our Giants

A Poem by Corset

All of our lovers are born giants
they take up so much space in our soul
looming like five P.M. shadows
but,
 after reverse
in the distance
between you and a rear view mirror
they become
smaller
smaller
smaller

until they just
disappear.

My first car, as I remember, had no rear view mirrors. In fact, it had no side mirrors either, so i had to turn my body completely around to see who was coming in the next lane beside me. so to compensate, i just I always drove in the right lane. Perhaps that's what we do with our old lovers. Compensate for their absence until their brightness dims. The soul gets use to people until confusion and turmoil drives them out. I agree....dana

Thank you beautiful soul, It's the ones you don't see coming that reeeally get ya. ((hugs))
but objects in the side view mirror appear closer than they are...and often we just don't have that peripheral vision...we just lose sight of those who are right beside us all the time. and yes, you read so gracefully.

kinda like a silent partner ey? Thanks so much J!
You have a beautiful speaking voice Corset. Yes, our lovers do appear to be giants when relationships are at their height and in full swing. They stay that way until the relationship takes a turn. When love dies, they fade gradually and eventually almost to obscurity. I like the imagery here in the rear view mirror. Well penned.
