Our Freedom Was Never Free

Our Freedom Was Never Free

A Poem by Country Girl47

America, WAKE UP!
our land didn't come free.
Our soldiers went over sea,
leaving behind, families.

What the soldiers once had,
Government took away.
Treated them as if they were property,
that was owned by them, that day.

Many gave their lives, so we'd be free.
They were put through pure hell.
The death of friends and family,
they'd seen done, by our enemies.

They come home only to see,
some people just didn't care.
Put on the side burner, ignored,
others stood there and stared.

Each time I begin to write,
nothing ever gets done.
I get angry, only for the fact,
they should be PRIORITY ONE!

Show a little dignity, show some pride, too.
Just a shake of the hand, and two words
you only have to say are, "THANK YOU!"

This is so true, the heartbreaking truth. I love how you tell it exactly how it is and how you aren't afraid to say what's right.

Thank you! If only others would follow and speak for them, too.
