Memorial Day

Memorial Day

A Poem by Country Girl47

This holiday, isn't just for us to enjoy, too.
It's for those who served for the red, white, and blue.
My hat goes off, to each of them who has served, still are.
That have put their lives on the line, some not by choice by far.

They are brave, stand proud and so tall, in front of you and I,
As they play our anthem, tears begin to roll from their eyes.

I DO NOT ever want to hear they are so weak, it's just wrong.
Its for those brothers and sisters not here today, that's made them strong.

Ones that never should have been forgotten, been gone for so long.
Yet, they have been by many of us, while we are there singing our song.

Is your mind, on these soldier's standing here today,
Or are you one, that's forgotten the reason why?

Respect from you they never demand.
Why not walk over to them,
look straight in their eyes,
Thank them, shake their hand.
