My Presence of Mind

Be still the waters of my heart and mind

The tranquil lagoon in my mind’s eye

Thoughts ripple in the surface

And resonate like sounds in my skull

 

Music making me…think

Me making myself

The wish as far as ever

But no matter how far I go

It will always be just as close

Just exactly that far out of reach

 

Ripples will come and go

Pass through the water

Leaving behind no definite traces of themselves

 

And here I will swim

In the unbound, the absolute

The quiet beauty that is this place

Awaiting the inevitable

The passage of time

Treading water

Next to the unsung hero that is simple beauty
