Being, Like the Bench Beneath Me

Being, Like the Bench Beneath Me

A Poem by KL

we're clouds.

poking our heads over m-
ountain slopes, wondering
where all the others have
gone to play--

white and fluffy
and young--

we grow.

harbouring more rain with
the passing hours and days
but still eager to play
in the sky--

a little more big
and grey--

we cover the sky.

no more room to move, we're
trapped in lifeless aged bodies
who's only wish is to go with
the wind but can't so we glower
and cover the sun--

the tears come...

first as a drop
then as a shower
we expel our rain.

to return ourselves to the
earth, where we can pick
ourselves back up and play
in the sky.

white, and fluffy, and young.

Love this metaphor- it starts out simple and strong and doesn't disappoint throughout the entire thing. The only thing that even remotely bothered me was the "m-
ountain slops". I couldn't tell if that was a mistake or not. Otherwise, I loved the voice and language use. Great write. :)

Great write... I love the lines about the clouds' tears. In a way, it shows the progression of returning home- in this case, to earth- in order to carry on. Definitely felt like an experience through the clouds and was a light and pleasant read.
