The Skag

The Skag

A Poem by Cree Nations
"

this poem was written one thought at a time, I started out and my 12 year old grandson, Ethan, would do the next. He is amazing.

"

I found myself at the edge of the water

Looking at reflections that turns to shadow.

I started to jump in only to remember I couldn't swim

        or tell time either.

My feet were filled with splinters from the wood and dirt

and beetles, the man that I see is not a dream, and

is never at all what he seems.

I looked down into the water at my reflection.

Not only to see the love of my life, but

an old skag that will never be right.

She thought that she could lure me with her disguise -

But I saw the truth of it in her eyes.

The picture I see is not the truth, I'll throw

some water and make her Ka-Boot.

Images in the water are often there to bamboozle us and lure us to do things deleterious to our health and well being. Very interesting presentation. Your new friend in words, Pete
