The Mighty Fell

The Mighty Fell

A Poem by Cree Nations
"

we thought it could nor would ever happen on our soil again...we were wrong.

"

How proud they stood,

invincible we thought.

Who could imagine the horror that day,

that enemies would come our way.

They had hidden well,

but come they did and struck those towers down.

Then one by one they fell.

With blood torn hands,

and eyes full of ash,

they searched the rubble and ruins of what was left.

Some were saved - but more were lost.

Oh what a tragic and terrible cost.

We said that we'd never forget...

and we as Americans were then put to the test.

I'd like to say we all did pass,

but in truth I fear we have failed.

For the proof of that is plain to see.

Look what's been done by you and me.

Too much complacency to understand and tolerate the enemy could be sometimes perceived as weakness

Are there ever any winners in the kind of situation you have so aptly described in this poem? I think not. Your friend in words, Pete

I will never forget that day. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
