The Tides Don't Wake the Dead

The Tides Don't Wake the Dead

A Poem by Heather Louise Argibay

Life is like the tides

It ebbs and flows between the good and bad.....

A constant to and fro...

I’m just here for the ride...

I float on the crest and wait for the peak to crash over and SMASH

Me into the sand.....

A washed on an empty shoreline....

So where has the sea brought me to now????

An Island of solitude , a paradise of my own creation.....

Unlike cast away, I don’t a volley ball,

There will be no "Wilson",

Give me some pencils and a paper and I can create my own universe....

No need for company....

No vacancy....

So sail your ship elsewhere....

My feet rest on the warm grains of sand

My head resides in the cumulous mists…..

And yet my torso is stuck somewhere in the middle....

It’s irrelevant, my limbs are disconnected and I’m unplugged....

Raw creativity flows from my veins

Like a river of blood from a stuck pig drained and disemboweled

Ready to be devoured raw

Consumable, Non-reusable, Combustible, Irrefutable….Fuel….

Burn Baby Burn…..

Let me watch you dance….

The flames lick your flesh….

 Caressed by hot death….

The aroma enticing, entrancing, intoxicating,

I drank your potion….

Breathe you in…inhale…exhale…..

Release the blazing ash from my lungs….

Breathe in…. Breathe out…

More dark sepsis expels from the orifices of my Face …..

Laughter….

Where are you?

Flash of teeth…..your smile….

A flicker of your eyes…..

Twinkle twinkle…..

The images of your face are gone again…

And the darkness descends…

The sun is setting….

The waves still crashing…..

The wind is blowing…

The fire is smoldering….

The silence is piercing….

Drops of red… trickle down my neck….

Delicious pain radiates through my collar….

A cool breeze has left my skin chilled…

Heart gives one last palpation, your last kiss….

Heavenly divine

And I am me…and you are you….

so far far away, let me be….

And I will carry on in my secret seclusion….

Do not wake the dead.
