Infertility

Infertility

A Poem by Crystal Overmeyer-Birmingham
"

We found out that we are infertile in October. This piece came out of a lot of pain and heart break

"
Disappointment drips from our eyes
Littering our faces and chests with ash
and traces of broken dreams
Collecting at our feet in pools of
heartbreak and puddles of
unplayed versions of the life we envisioned.
Wading though the pain we find
a recuse boat in each other's arms
I whisper
" They say it gets easier with time"
You wince
" I wish it were today"

Devastating with the title that drives it home. It's hard to be vulnerable so publicly, but it often makes the most touching art.

This was very strong, in my opinion. These words stand universally, and so the meaning can relate to a number of scenarios, but the title really drives this home.

Sweet, Crystal.

We all wish the pain would go away just like that. But I guess what doesn't kill you makes your stronger.

Keep on writing!

About
I am a poet by nature. Words just speak to me and color my world. I away think of poetry as painting with phases, just as vibrant and life giving as they are messy and complex. more..
