Attention!

Attention!

A Poem by Shiningwolf

Arms straight down

Facing forward

Piercing eyes are watching

Cutting through to my nerves

Standing tall and upright

Locked in a fixed spot

Gazing around at my brothers and sisters

Locked in battle position

Linked minds thinking the same

Same thoughts that are compressed

Pre-determined lives are set

The decider is not me

Feeling like a soldier

Destined to fight in war

Having no choice of my life

My future is already made

Watching the fun drive by

I am left on the street

Wishing that were me in that seat

I am forced to stand alone

When will be my turn to speak?

My turn to grow and be free

Spreading my wings like an eagle

I want to soar as much as I can

Standing at attention

With no free thinking at will

God help my soul and theirs

For this battle will not be fought.

My will is not yours to decide..

This is an awesome piece! You've captured the essence of what it feels to not be free, to be bound in attention. This is very good-
"Feeling like a soldier

Destined to fight in war

Having no choice of my life

My future is already made"
- These lines are absolutely fantastic.

Very well written! :) This is one of my favorites so far that ive read. Your fate cannot be decided by anyone but yourself. Its the decisions we make in life theat decide who we are and howhat we become. This was very true. and very well done.

Standing to attention, learning to understand discipline. Reminds me of facing a strict head master or learning respect from an Army Sarge. Great poem my friend.

of course this reminds me of being in the Army. The discipline, the routine, the following of orders, being of one mind with one gaol, there is no room to be an individual. Still they are called to a higher a purpose, a higher mission that goes above self and they sacrafice their own freedom in order to insure our freedom and this is why they are heros.

The dystopian overtones make me smile with delight. Oh the rigors of obedience forced upon us all capture on a website by a random soul.
