You'll Never Know Just How Much You Saved Me

You'll Never Know Just How Much You Saved Me

A Poem by Crystal

You'll never know
just how much you saved me,
when behind those jokes I told
and blatant hit-ons,
I was so bored of my life
that it was crippling me.
I would laugh and smile with you
and have fun,
suppressing the loneliness that was
killing me from the inside.

My life was becoming a desert road
with no destination in sight,
nothing remotely exciting along the way.

You'll never know
just how much you saved me.
"You're not good at expressing emotion"
you told me
when we first spent time together.
Not long later
you saw me cry overdue tears.
And for the first time,
my sadness didn't scare me
and I didn't conceal it
or repress it.
I acknowledged the deep unhappiness
and  I finally let someone else see it too.
