Obession

Obession

A Poem by Crystal Mullings

Obession

She takes her step
Within my step
She takes my breath
As her breath
She inquires into my
Social stratosphere
Noting the names into
Her blackberry
She corrects my jargon
To distinguish herself
The possibility of my perfection
Scares her soul
With ease she manipulates
As if it’s in her genetics
She plucks at me with her
Genetic tweezers pulling in every direction

She tries too hard I hear them whisper
Turning in her direction
When will she learn?
She would be happy knowing that
All isn’t going well for you
She tries to make it possible
Each and everyday she fails
Obsessed with the obsession of perfection

Words that can sum up several Mother/Daughter relationships that I know. Very well written.

A powerful piece that a lot of people can relate to in their relationships. At first I thought it was going to be a romantic piece but then it turned into something more. Something that really make you rethink about how you're treating the relationship you're in. A truly Beautiful work that I really enjoyed reading.
