Blank Page

A Poem by Wild Rose

 Blank Page

I am sitting ccccccccwith a blank sheet of paper

It says that it wants me to write on it

What can I write

I have no inspiration

I dont have any ideas

Not even a picture to draw

The page just lays there

Staring back at me

I attempted to read your writing

The words were too close together

All jumbled

They made no sense

I wonder

Am I alone

Did the poets and writers of old

Have times like this

Did Wordsworth

Burns

Or Coleridge

I know he was often dancing with opium the fairys

Did they have days

Of blankness

I wonder

All writers had days where they couldn't write. Hemingway struggled. Hard to write when the mind is tire. I read other folks poetry when my mind is working. I listen to song and read. Usually awake my pen. Thank you dear friend for sharing your amazing words and your thoughts.

I see that master of allegory has stolen the show with his retort, "Wordsworth Wordless, Burns Burned out...and Coleridge stone Cold with nothing coming" Loved it!
Now the poem. Likie jacob said drought, poverty of thought even, hits every writer. I am just glad not to be writing under a copy of publication deadline!

i am sure they did...we all have days and pages of blankness...the muse does her thing...we enjoy or suffer the consequences...you made me imagine Wordsworth Wordless, Burns Burned out...and Coleridge stone Cold with nothing coming...his Eagle not finding its prey and just sitting upon that crag with no purpose.
and what was that song? "Mama said there'd be days like this"--

a very relatable piece of work here.
