I know you are gone

I know you are gone

A Poem by Pale Rose
"

Just a little poem on missing someone.

"
An empty echo left where sounds would seep softly into plush pillows and deep dresser drawers.

I know you are gone.

The dust which dulled fabrics and coiled on clothing is cleared away; chased away, perhaps, by a sudden stillness, and silence.

I know you are gone.

Standing inside this space, gravity is stronger. The ghosts are a struggle to ignore.

I know you are gone.

Who shall fill this empty room, so I can finally forsake the persistent sounds of you?

I know you are gone.

Featured Review

I recently lost a family member, very connectable feeling.
I like this poem a lot, there is a heaviness in the words, the spacing, the alignment.
"the dust which dulled fabrics" brings the realization that it has been some time that this has happened, yet the inability to accept it is present.
Following by "Is cleared away" gives me the implication that the world has seemed to move on but you haven't, the ghost hasn't, the spirit hasn't.
Using the words "space" and "gravity" together gives me the picture of a universe. Instead of just being along in a room or a house, it feels as if you are alone in the universe.
And to state the obvious, the repetition of "i know you are gone" ties this poem together nicely. Good job.
