"Let's pretend we're not enemies, and you let nothing burn"

"Let's pretend we're not enemies, and you let nothing burn"

A Poem by Pale Rose
"

Poem about loss from the point of view of the abandoned.

"
When the bonds aren’t enough
Knots slip and ropes fall,
Slowly loosening the hold.
Then with one sharp thrust:

Nothing to hold it together,
The wrapping comes off,
Something is forever lost.
Naked, I am the offender:

It’s offensive you can see me now?
Through your eyes, I aim to maim.
So terrible, to see a person made plain?
I am not the only one to sink so low:

Holding tatters, beggar rags, to be
Presentable, and therefore we’re alright--
No need to tie even one new knot.
I’m waiting for the day you go away.
