Bluegreen

Bluegreen

A Poem by D Connolly
"

Inspired by C Froman's "Wave on Wave"

"

I come to you when I need to understand

Rocked by your gentle arms like a child

You never lie, no matter how painful the truth is

Acceptance ebbs slowly, as you've taught me

And I learn

Purifying my lungs with your salty caress

You carry my troubles away to the depths

And bring them back to me with new reflection

I emerge stronger than before

Reborn

And itchy with new skin

D Connolly,
Oh this one really clicks with me! Your title choice is perfect and water colors have a calming effect, a sit and ponder effect. It is lovely to be taken along with you on this time of reflection and even what sounds like some healing. Natural places like this are so important for we people. Bless you so much. I really appreciated this lovely piece!

I like this. It had little whimsical in it.

Thank-you Michael :)
This idea of "bluegreen" being personified is brilliantly done . . . it could be your water place, but it could be any outdoor place with green leaves & blue sky. I love the sensual descriptions of how this peaceful place feels & heals. The last two lines are very original & dynamic -- I can just feel oneself being itchy to get going again, after such a reprieve from the hassles of life!

Hey Margiegirl!
The waves dashing and taking away the sorrows and giving an insight into life each day. What lovely would it be to live by the sea, that it a teacher, a friend and guide. I was swept away by your word play.

Yes I can see the return and understand the wish to. And feel the serenity of the waves. That is the colour of the water in my favourite place on earth. A place called Luskyntyre on the Island of Harris in the Outer Hebrides.

Except the water in the Hebrides is not very warm.
This sounds like the perfect therapy to me. To cleanse, rejuvenate and clear the fog. Lovely.

It was my pleasure!
Just floating in the sea when it's calm can be so relaxing. But I loved the humour in your last line. That itchy skin when the salt dries ......

I think you're going in a good direction with this. The piece gets stronger as you go along - the ending is the best part. "And itchy with new skin" is my favorite line, but I feel like you could do without "Reborn." Also wondering about "Purifying my lungs with your salty caress" because wouldn't inhaling seawater lead to drowning? Just a little muddy with the imagery, but like I said, the ending is strong.

interesting anthropomorphising of the waters, their comfort similar to that of a parent's - can definitely feel the narrator's fondness and consolation found within these waters
