Blank Space

Blank Space

A Poem by D Connolly
"

I notice random things & turn them into philosophy

"

With the new year, I removed the calendar from my wall

And now the space looks so empty and bare

In spite of the urge I feel to fill the void immediately,

I will sit with these emotions and reflect...

Understanding that emptying does not require refilling

I am experimenting with "poems" that don't rhyme or have any rhythm. Not sure how I feel about it.

'Blank Space'
D Connolly,
With any change it is ok to only move as fast as one can. Processing the things of life is not always super fast I think. Your poem was a good example of being given permission to be as kind to yourself as you would to others as we move through life seasons.
Blessings,
Kathy

What a perfect write. It ranks as a philisophical quote on so many things. Excellent, intelligent and witty to the nth degree. Someone once said of one of my drawings " You can draw with what you take away".

You are more than welcome. I always told my students that the negative spaces could not exist withou.. read more
this poem could not have been expressed better with rhyme...it works as is...

and the last line is a great philosophy...and very true...sometimes we empty, but then try to fill too fast what's missing...we have to let life come to us a little more often...because on its own time it can bring us comfort.

yes, thank-you so much for reading jacob
This is sound Dani.
Nothing wrong with it.
I was minded by your musings of the adage 'Wise people speak because they have something to say. Fools speak because the have to say something.'

-I'm in the latter category.

Keep these up Dani

Welcome D.
The idea is that they say something and this does. I have been up here 3 years, the calendar was removed and I just noticed above it is the painting I did of 2 red cardinals for my sister that died some time ago of cancer. I think my blank space is above my eye brows... Valentine
