What and Where Is This Well We Implore

A Poem by DMurrell

What and where is this "well" we implore

in subtle nuanced wishing speech:

"Oh ...!" or "Oh ...?" or "Oh ...."

a gauge for acute ears, sound

minded folk to discern, listening to the speaker, as thier two words hit water... (Basho's frog still perplexes the common unconsciousnesses of us readers of his singular teasing pond's phonetic... "plunk", "ker plunk", "water sound" "zen zeigeist bridged 1686 to 2012 even" ???))

how our spirit fathoms earth's depths

resigned to tossing down there into water's deep ends

further even to despair the

well's waters full of humanity's

undecisions.

A brief conversation might well be:

"Oh well," she said. "Oh well," he replied as they....

amazing how a single sided conversation can take one to such exotic places ~

words spoken are so irrevocable - like the splash of Basho's frog -- the ripples resound mightily ~

and the well - O well - is deep - is their a golden ball to be restored and a promise to keep?

Or is there just the falling into the bottomless deep -

is the well a well well, or is the well not well .....

Maybe we should decide and speak the decision so that it too like words be irrevocable --

Anyway thanks for the thinking words today ~ as the day begins ~
