its up to you, all of it

its up to you, all of it

A Poem by DRIVEN
"

sometimes we argue for our limitations

"

She sits on the floor wondering

if life is gonna pass her by.

She sits and dreams of yesterdays

and why she never learned to fly.

She writes and paints and still complains

that no one takes the time to see

what she has given day to day

She cannot face reality

When I came to visit her I found

that she hasn't changed her fears

same complaints, same attitude

same wanting you to see her tears

I wanted to feel sorry but

I found it difficult because

nothings changed in all these years

she still remains where she was

I wish that I could give to her

the ability she needs to fly

and show her that the gift is there

to spread her wings, to give a try

but instead I listen patiently

while she tells me why she just can't move

and stays inside her little world

and will not try to improve

herself

It is true that you can be given a talent.. but it takes a whole lot of courage to spread your wings and fly.
If that courage is never found, one will be trapped in their own fears for life. Shame as it is, it happens all the time. Be the friend that someone one needs, give them a hand, encouragement, and maybe, just maybe.. the will find it inside to fly..

If not give them a tiny push and be ready to catch them on the other side!

Very nice write..

This is very insightful with truth in the content, so many are self proclaimed hermits hiding from the world and themselves. You have captured these feelings extremely well. I have been there and it is completely debilitating and unpredictable. Your prose is well-placed and not obscure in its message.
Thumbs up for tackling a tough subject.
Cheers,
Helen :-)

we never know how high we are
til we are asked to rise
and then if we are true to plan
our statures touch the skies

the heroism we recite
would be a normal thing
did not ourselves the cubits warp
for fear to be a king.
--Dickinson

I hope she learns to fly someday.

great flow to a nice poem. emotional and true. creates a feel of distance from the reader appropriate for this type of work. Wouldn't mind a tad more imagery to increase the power, but still be able to maintain the simplistic tone.
that aside, a very nice job!

Wonderfully written! I love the flow of this piece. It kept my interest and I felt the frustration you felt with wanting to help someone, but knowing you can't because they won't help themselves. I know so many people like that and it's so sad to watch.

Great write!

it's true...and we are afraid of succeeding also as success means all kinds of exposure and other dangerous excitements.

Nicely written. I recognized someone in my life in this poem. Sad, but we can't always see what made them that way. I listened as long as she was alive but not very patiently. I admire anyone who cultivates patience.
Good work!

this is an excellent poem about a person not willing to change for the best and fake tears for people feeling sorry about her.

If she doesn't get her a*s up and do something about it, no one is willing to help her. That's what I say, if you want something done... get your a*s off the chair and do it.

Yet, I love the rhyming and everything... this is genius work, my friend. :)

To understand this person, I think first you must walk in their shoes
I myself have been slapped around so much by life, I should have two black eyes
If there is a lost love in the story, well then there are some loves
you just can't shake out of the heart
You just have to learn to live with the loss
It is hard to do, believe me I know!!
In my case of lost love, even with everything that has happened I still can't hate her
In my heart she will remain as long as I draw breath
I still miss her so, you cant control the heart
Very well penned piece, I enjoyed it

This, my friend, was magnificently written. It show how humans constantly want sympathy, and want to change, yet are too lazy to do it themselves.
I love it.
