Rest Of My Life

Rest Of My Life

A Poem by Poetic Injustice

If I promise to love you for the rest of my life would you stick around and make me prove it?

Cause I'd hate to see you walk away though I like the way you move it.

You've ruined me for others, can't you see? I don't wanna live without you.

So if I promise to love you for the rest of my life would you stick around to see if I do?

She looked at me, her face showed glee and she said she sure could do it.

She said she'd even help me along to make sure I could prove it.

Cause she knew just how to do the job when it came to killing me.

So when it came to loving her til the day I died, she volunteered willingly.

So the honeymoon was one helluva night, just a day before my wake.

It was worth it, I'll tell you, she gave me more than any man could take.

And with a smile I held my love until I passed away.

I loved her with all my heart until my dying day.

If I promise to love you for the rest of my life would you stick around and make me prove it?

Cause I'd hate to see you walk away though I like the way you move it.

You've ruined me for others, can't you see? I don't wanna live without you.

So if I promise to love you for the rest of my life would you stick around to see if I do?

the speaker conveys the passion in his thoughts nicely in this poem...the promise made is very heartfelt.

"And with a smile I held my love until I passed away.
I loved her, with all my heart, until my dying day."...WONDERFUL EXPRESSION OF LOVE!

the sentiment in this poem is one many can relate...I am speaking of finding that one person in life we do not want to live without...the pain it causes in absence and the joy we feel deep within in their presence...NICELY WRITTEN!

One helluva fine poem that could be a song . . .

I see this being sung at an Irish or Scottish pub, with the Guinness a flow!

I loved the imagery and your use of language that conveys so much meaning.

Hat's off to you! A fine poem, indeed!
