How did it come to this?

Living the good life, the glamour, the fame, the money, but it isn’t all smooth for your average person as were just about to find out. As you may know Models and Glamour Models almost dominate the newspapers, we see them on billboards, magazine covers, we cant go a day without seeing them, but is it all positive fun, or is it messing with the minds of young people by sending out a message? People could argue that it’s Teens being oversensitive, but are these messages having a negative affect of young people across Great Britain? Modelling is a very rewarding career with amazing opportunities and the chance to promote produce such as clothing and other major labels so it does have a positive effect on things. There have been stories in the past of girls trying to look exactly like the models we see everyday by going to extreme circumstances, but now its just not girls who are feeling the pressure, Teenage Boys are becoming more anxious about their looks, as there are a number of male models in the industry, so why exactly does this happen? Or is it just a minority of teens being rather cynical, well I asked 8 young people how they seen themselves and there were shocking results two out of eight of them answered yes to “are u satisfied with the way you look” and 5 of 8 answered yes to “do you think there is pressure for young people to look their male/female models” and a Astonishing 7 out of 8 teens we asked said yes to “ do you think you wont get accepted because of what you think you look like”.

Does is all have a Negative effect?

As negative as people might make it sound it’s not all bad news well for major and upcoming companies especially as these current difficult financial times companies might need to take action in order to sell their products. We all would be more interested to buy something if a well known model/celebrity was advertising it, but is seeing half naked models actually going to promote the product on an overall scale, or is it just sending out negative messages, or is it even jealousy? One thing is for sure it has both positive and negative effect which is the stronger of the two you decide.

What exactly should we look like?

Well this is a tough question; I can assure you if we asked 100 young people what we should like, 90% of girls would say “skinny” and 90% of boys would say “toned” coincidently the image the models are showing in this day and age, its not all bad as it may encourage youngsters to join the gym, but do we really need models motivating us to get fit? Has it really come to this? During my survey 7 out of the 8 teens I asked admitted they feel they won’t get accepted because of how they think they look (as seen in paragraph 1, “how did it come to this”) which is a very shocking and sad statistic, what ever happened to “live your life the way you want” and “be yourself”, it seems that people cant accepted and that’s why there is people get labelled and often bullied for trying to “be themselves”.

I think the overwhelming desire for acceptance, especially amongst the young, is what drives them to extremes, even to the detriment of their health. I don't know how you could convince people to be themselves and not follow crowds, but that's what everyone should do. A woman who's a bit on the meaty side looks good to me, but I know I'm in the minority.

I like it, not sure it's the usual thing to go up on this site though :-)
